This 1969 Mustang Mach 1 fastback began life as a big block S code 390 with a three speed automatic, but today it wears its history and its upgrades proudly. Over the course of a multi year rotisserie restoration completed in early 2025, more than $100,000 went into stripping every panel to bare metal, reinforcing the frame, rebuilding or replacing every suspension component, and reassembling the car with both factory correct details and modern performance parts. What emerged is a Mach 1 that looks right on the outside and punches well above its original weight on the road.
Dressed in its authentic Candy Apple Red finish, this Mach 1 commands attention wherever it goes. The original reflective rocker stripes gleam along the rocker panels, and the front and rear spoilers give it an athletic appearance. The blackout shaker hood frames a factory scoop, while the rear window louvers give the fastback profile an extra dash of aggression. A beefy aluminum radiator with twin electric fans keeps everything in check, while dual exhaust routing into MagnaFlow mufflers gives this Mach 1 an authoritative note at idle and a roar under throttle. The factory C6 automatic was swapped for a Tremec TKX five speed manual, complete with a hydraulic clutch setup that feels light and precise with every shift.
Out back, a Ford 9” housing with 3.50 gears and a limited slip differential was installed for reliable launches. The entire chassis rides on a triangulated four link rear suspension and subframe connectors, while double A arms up front and adjustable Ridetech coilovers at each corner deliver a taut yet compliant ride. Power rack-and-pinion steering and four-wheel power disc brakes mean highway miles and canyon roads alike are handled with confidence.
Slip inside and the attention to detail carries over. The Black Knit Vinyl interior feels period correct with fresh Hi Back bucket seats that hug you in the corners. A thick, wood grain steering wheel sits on an Ididit tilt column, so you can fine tune your driving position with ease. The driver takes control through a long, black billet shifter that’s topped by a black cue ball style shift knob. A custom center console, complete with cupholders, sits neatly between the seats. Vintage Air climate control keeps the cabin comfortable, and a period styled Custom Auto Sound head unit brings music into the mix without breaking the classic look.
