Ford Ranger Super Duty Revealed: Redefining the Mid-Size Heavy-Hitter
New Ranger Super Duty Sets the Benchmark with 4500kg GVM, 4500kg Towing Capacity, and 8000kg GCM
Ford has pulled the wraps off the all-new Ranger Super Duty, a next-level workhorse engineered for those who demand serious muscle, unmatched durability, and cutting-edge technology—all in a mid-size package.
Developed with insights from the heavy-duty commercial sector and drawing on the legacy of Ford’s F-Series Super Duty, the Ranger Super Duty sets a new standard with robust construction, smart towing features, and a work-first mindset.
Built for the Hard Jobs
Jim Baumbick, VP of Advanced Product Development at Ford, sums it up: “We’ve developed a Ranger with heavy-duty hardware and enhanced capability to stay on the job longer and help get it done sooner.”
The Ranger Super Duty is available in Australia starting 2026 as a Single, Super, or Double Cab Chassis. A Double Cab with style-side box and the more refined Super Duty XLT variant will follow mid-year. Designed for long-distance durability and equipped with unique alloys and touring upgrades, the XLT model offers rugged luxury in a work-ready platform.

Tested to the Limit
Ford’s engineers subjected the Ranger Super Duty to some of the most punishing durability tests in the business—from simulated mining conditions to robot-driven 24/7 endurance runs at Australia’s You Yangs Proving Ground.
“Some tests were so brutal we had to use autonomous driving robots,” said Baumbick. “This truck didn’t just pass—it conquered.”
Testing included mud pack simulations (with over 600kg of mud stuck to the undercarriage), shaker rig abuse, towing dynos, corrosion chambers, and extreme off-road scenarios designed to replicate real-world challenges.
Towing, Smarter Than Ever
With a class-leading 4500kg towing capacity, Ranger Super Duty introduces a suite of advanced towing tools. It features a recalibrated integrated trailer brake controller, Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ with yaw rate sensors for faster setup, and storage for up to 10 trailers.
Also debuting on a Ranger: Smart Hitch and Onboard Scales. Smart Hitch helps users balance trailer loads, while Onboard Scales use suspension sensors to estimate payload weight—viewable on the SYNC screen—ensuring you’re always within limits.
Built to Endure, Designed to Work
Underneath, the Ranger Super Duty is protected by a full suite of high-strength steel bash plates, shielding key components like the engine, transmission, and fuel tank. A 130-litre long-range fuel tank comes standard, extending off-road range.
The chassis, while dimensionally similar to the standard Ranger, is completely re-engineered with thicker steel, reinforced mounting points, and a heavy-duty rear axle—the strongest ever fitted to a Ranger. Eight-stud hubs and stronger driveshafts further enhance durability.
Upfitters will love the easily accessible mounting points, making it ideal for specialty builds or aftermarket accessories straight from the factory.

Proven Powertrain with Smart Emissions Control
Powering the Ranger Super Duty is Ford’s proven 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, tuned for heavy-duty operation and EU6.2 emissions compliance. Upgraded cooling ensures consistent performance under sustained load.
It also offers a handy feature: the ability to manually delay and trigger diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration—particularly useful in high fire-risk environments.
Built for the Extreme
With upgraded breathers for the transmission, differential, and fuel system, the Ranger Super Duty offers improved water wading depth and extreme terrain capability. Standard front and rear locking differentials, six selectable drive modes, and a strengthened two-speed transfer case give it true go-anywhere cred.
“The Ranger Super Duty performed flawlessly in conditions that would stop most vehicles,” said Chief Program Engineer Dave Burn. “It’s simply unmatched in the mid-size truck segment.”

Ready for Work. Ready for Adventure.
Whether you’re hauling, towing, or heading deep into the backcountry, the Ranger Super Duty is engineered to go further, last longer, and carry more. Built Ford Tough, now in a size that fits global markets.
Ordering begins in Australia and New Zealand later this year, with deliveries expected in 2026. Global fleet availability and model line-ups for additional markets will be announced soon.
