BMW Unveils the Concept Speedtop: A Bold New Chapter for Touring Design

At the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025, held on the scenic shores of Lake Como, BMW introduced a bold new vision of driving passion and craftsmanship: the Concept Speedtop. A sleek, three-door reinterpretation of the classic Touring body style, this limited-production concept fuses the spirit of a shooting brake with BMW’s signature dynamism and precision.

A Statement in Motion — Even at Standstill

The Concept Speedtop is more than just a showpiece—it’s a declaration of intent. “A true BMW exudes dynamism and elegance even when it’s standing still,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design. With its elongated proportions, muscular rear shoulders, and shark-nose front end, the Speedtop establishes a commanding presence.

Its silhouette is unmistakably unique, highlighted by a continuous central spine flowing from the hood, over the roof, and into the integrated rear spoiler. A two-tone gradient finish—shifting from “Floating Sunstone Maroon” to “Floating Sundown Silver”—further enhances its fluid form. Custom 14-spoke, dual-tone wheels anchor the car’s stance, combining technical finesse with sculptural beauty.

Interior Mastery: Where Art Meets Engineering

Step inside the Concept Speedtop, and you’re met with a cocoon of luxury. The cabin, designed for two, invites weekend escapes with a harmonious blend of design, material, and craftsmanship. Rich brown leather, detailed with traditional brogue-style perforations, is complemented by light “Moonstone White” surfaces, creating a balance between warmth and refinement.

BMW’s attention to detail extends to the roof lining, where a mirrored spine and ambient lighting trace the vehicle’s exterior architecture, adding depth and atmosphere. The trunk, also wrapped in leather, offers dual compartments and integrated lighting, ideal for multi-day journeys.

A standout detail is the bespoke luggage set created in collaboration with Italian leather artisan Schedoni. Two tailored leather bags fit snugly behind the seats, secured by leather straps, while a weekend bag completes the set in the rear cargo area—every element designed to match the Speedtop’s material palette.

Under the Hood: BMW’s Most Potent V8

Beauty meets performance in the Concept Speedtop, which houses the most powerful V8 engine in BMW’s current lineup. Though technical specifications remain under wraps, the engine’s inclusion signals BMW’s commitment to delivering thrilling performance to match the car’s bold design.

Exclusivity for the Connoisseur

Following the immense success of last year’s BMW Concept Skytop—limited to just 50 units—BMW is producing a highly exclusive run of 70 Concept Speedtop models. “This extraordinary vehicle is now available for order,” says Bernd Körber, BMW’s Senior Vice President of Brand and Product Management. “We are pleased to offer collectors and enthusiasts another exclusive model that captures the essence of driving passion.”
