Stellantis Celebrates 100 Years of Operations in Canada

Stellantis Marks 100 Years of Automotive Legacy in Canada

Windsor, Ontario – June 17, 2025 – Stellantis is proudly celebrating a century of automotive innovation in Canada, marking 100 years since Chrysler Canada was officially incorporated in Windsor on June 17, 1925. The milestone recognizes a rich legacy of manufacturing, engineering excellence, and economic impact across the country.

What began with just 181 employees and 4,500 vehicles built in its first year has grown into a major automotive force. Today, Stellantis employs nearly 9,000 people in Canada and operates through a national network of 440 dealers, having produced over 25 million vehicles.

Special Events to Celebrate the Centennial

To commemorate this historic milestone, Stellantis will host a Family Day celebration for employees, retirees, and their families at the Windsor Assembly Plant on Sunday, June 22. In addition, the public is invited to a community car show organized by Cars & Coffee Windsor, taking place along Chrysler Centre Road starting at 9 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village, with a $10 cash donation per displayed vehicle collected at entry.

Food vendors and local merchandise sellers will also be on-site to contribute to the festivities.

Commemorative Chrysler Pacifica 100th Anniversary Edition

In honour of 100 years of innovation, Chrysler has unveiled the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica 100th Anniversary Edition, assembled right in Windsor. This exclusive model features unique styling elements such as Semi-Gloss Granite Crystal accents, polished luster grey wheels, and is available in Red Hot, Bright White, or Hydro Blue. Canadian buyers can choose between a traditional gas engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with pricing starting at $59,190.

A Proud History of Canadian Automotive Innovation

Chrysler Canada’s roots trace back to just days after Walter P. Chrysler founded the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit. The Canadian division quickly grew, acquiring Dodge Bros. and Graham Bros. operations by 1928, and launching Plymouth and DeSoto divisions soon after. The original assembly plant opened in Windsor in 1929, forming the foundation for what is now the Windsor Assembly Plant.

Over the decades, Stellantis has continued to evolve, now representing seven major brands in Canada—Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram, FIAT, Alfa Romeo, and Mopar—along with an expansive presence across sales, service, research, and manufacturing.

Investing in the Future: EVs and Research in Windsor

Windsor remains at the heart of Stellantis’ Canadian operations. The Automotive Research and Development Centre (ARDC), in partnership with the University of Windsor, plays a key role in developing future vehicle technologies. Soon, it will also host the new Battery Technology Centre, which will support advanced electric vehicle (EV) battery testing and development.

As part of its electric future, Stellantis also partnered with LG Energy Solution in 2022 to launch NextStar Energy, Canada’s first major lithium-ion battery plant. This Windsor-based facility will produce cutting-edge battery cells and modules for Stellantis’ North American EV lineup.

“We’re celebrating more than just 100 years in Canada — we’re celebrating generations of workers, families, and communities that helped build this legacy,” said Jeff Hines, President and CEO of Stellantis Canada. “Thank you to every customer, employee and partner who drove us forward. Here’s to the next 100 years.”

To further mark the centennial, special signage has been installed at the Windsor Assembly Plant and along surrounding roadways, showcasing the company’s Canadian heritage and the message: “You didn’t just ride along. You drove us.”
