Hamilton: “We have everything needed for the title”

Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has said he is confident his new Ferrari team is ready to win the championship.
“I’ve driven for two world champion teams (McLaren and Mercedes), I know what a winning team looks like. The team has everything it takes to win the championship. It’s just a matter of putting it all together,” Hamilton told Sky 2.

Hamilton, who has seven Formula One titles in total, has moved from Mercedes to Ferrari, where he will drive alongside his current teammate Charles Leclerc.

“Nobody is saying we’re perfect. We have to improve, but the team is not leaving anything to chance. This team has an incredible history, a winning mentality in its DNA,” he added.

Hamilton has driven for Mercedes for the past 12 seasons and has won six titles.

“Ferrari is different. As soon as you put on the suit, enter the garage, put on the helmet and sit in the seat, you feel an incredible passion. Everything is exciting. As a child, I dreamed of driving for Ferrari and I still pinch myself to believe that it’s really happening,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton also shared his impressions of the car he will drive for Ferrari today.

“The steering wheel and all the settings are completely different. The software is different. I’m adapting to a car that’s designed completely differently to what I’ve driven in the past. I don’t feel the need to change my driving style significantly. I’m actually quite comfortable,” Hamilton said.
