Former Formula 1 world champion believes the experienced Briton will not threaten the current champion
The start of the new Formula 1 season awaits us on the last weekend in February.
Dutchman Max Verstappen will defend his three consecutive world championship titles with Red Bull, and the main news will be the transfer of seven-time British world champion Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes to Ferrari.
Former 2016 world champion and Hamilton’s then Mercedes co-driver, German Nico Rosberg, gave his prediction for the title fight.
“Charles will be at the same level as George Russell last year,” Rosberg said, adding:
“These two are of course the best young drivers. Of course, I’m not counting Max Verstappen, who is still in his class. “Lewis struggled a lot last season with Mercedes and if that happens again, he will be ahead of Hamilton,” Rosberg said.
Although he currently has more faith in Max, for Rosberg the best Formula 1 driver of all time is the 40-year-old Hamilton.
“Lewis is the best ever. There are some doubts about how he will cope with the new car, but I think he will be at a top level in Ferrari as well,” Rosberg believes.
