Mustang GTD: The Fastest, Most Powerful Production Mustang in History

Ford has officially unveiled the 2025 Mustang GTD, a groundbreaking performance machine that pushes the boundaries of what a production Mustang can achieve. With an impressive 815 horsepower, 664 pound-feet of torque, and a top speed of 202 miles per hour, the Mustang GTD is now the fastest and most powerful street-legal Mustang ever created.

This powerhouse is a testament to Ford’s commitment to engineering excellence, as it combines raw performance with cutting-edge technology. At the heart of the Mustang GTD lies a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, delivering more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. This engine, along with the Mustang’s first-ever dry-sump oil system, provides exceptional reliability, even during the most demanding cornering scenarios. The dry-sump oil system allows for an elevated maximum engine speed of 7,650 rpm—an improvement of 100 rpm over previous 5.2-liter V8 models.

As the Mustang GTD aims for a sub-seven-minute lap time at the Nürburgring, its design and technology play a crucial role. The car’s advanced active aerodynamics, including a Drag Reduction System (DRS), allows for the optimal balance between speed and downforce. The rear wing’s adjustable angle and front flaps enable the GTD to adapt to various performance conditions, enhancing both its top speed and cornering grip.

The Mustang GTD is not just about power—it’s also about precision. With carbon-ceramic brakes, inboard-rear suspension, and semi-active dampers, the Mustang GTD is engineered to handle the extreme forces that come with its 202 mph top speed. These cutting-edge features ensure that the Mustang GTD is not only fast but also incredibly stable and responsive on both the track and the street.

“We’ve been laser-focused since day one to make the Mustang GTD the first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang,” said Greg Goodall, Chief Program Engineer for the Mustang GTD. “GTD’s heart is its supercharged 5.2-liter V8, packing more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.”

With its combination of raw power, technological advancements, and world-class engineering, the 2025 Mustang GTD is set to redefine what a performance car can be. Ford’s promise of a sub-seven-minute lap time at the Nürburgring only adds to the excitement surrounding this extraordinary machine.

“With Mustang GTD technology, power, and aerodynamics, we’ve combined the work of talented engineers and designers, as well as an extremely capable driver,” added Goodall. “We can’t wait to deliver on our sub-7-minute promise to GTD customers.”
