The “KR” in GT500KR stands for “King of the Road”, a title it truly earned in 1968. Powered by a 7.0-liter (428 cubic inch) Cobra Jet V8 engine producing nearly 400 gross horsepower, the 1968 GT500KR was not only the fastest Mustang ever produced at the time but also the most luxurious. In 1968, Ford took a more active role in the Shelby program. Before then, Shelby models were built at Ford’s San Jose plant and shipped to Shelby’s Venice, California facility for final assembly. Starting in 1968, however, all Shelby models were built at Ford’s Metuchen, New Jersey plant and then sent to Ford supplier A.O. Smith in Ionia, Michigan for completion. These 1968 Shelby models were celebrated for their power, luxury, and exceptional build quality, with many collectors considering them among the best-made Shelby cars.
The Revology Shelby GT500KR faithfully captures the spirit of the original, offering enhanced performance, drivability, reliability, comfort, and safety.

Engine:
The Revology Shelby GT500KR features the supercharged Ford/ROUSH Performance 5.0L Ti-VCT “Coyote” DOHC V8 engine, rated at 710 horsepower. This engine delivers impressive power when needed, yet remains docile and easy to drive in heavy traffic.

Driveline:
All Revology Mustangs and Shelby GT models come equipped with a Ford 8.8″ rear axle and a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential, ensuring smooth and quiet operation with superior durability. The gear sets (3.31 for automatic transmission and 3.73 for manual transmission) are engineered and built at Ford’s Sterling Axle plant, unlike aftermarket gear sets. Heavy-duty 31-spline axles transfer the immense power to the wheels with precision and reliability.
Carbon Fiber Driveshaft:
Chosen for its high strength and lightweight properties, carbon fiber driveshafts are ideal for high-performance vehicles. They are also more forgiving than steel or aluminum, reducing driveline harshness and improving the overall driving experience. The result is a smoother, more enjoyable ride.

Brakes:
With a power-to-weight ratio comparable to a Ferrari 488, the GT500KR requires top-tier braking performance. The car is equipped with large six-piston forged aluminum calipers gripping 13.06″ slotted and vented rotors at the front, while the rear uses four-piston forged aluminum calipers with 12.88″ rotors for optimal braking power.
Exhaust System:
The stainless steel dual exhaust system, built by Borla to Revology’s specifications, is specifically tuned for the Ford Coyote engine. It delivers a soft burble at idle and remains quiet without any drone at cruising speed. An optional Performance Exhaust system features lower-restriction mufflers, providing additional power and a more aggressive sound.
