Eric Cantona Teams Up with Ford to Create One-of-a-Kind Electric Capri

Ford has unveiled a bespoke version of its all-electric Capri SUV, created in collaboration with legendary French footballer Eric Cantona. Known for his charisma and larger-than-life persona, “King Eric” has now left his mark on the automotive world.

The one-off Capri was developed by Ford’s design team in partnership with Cantona as part of the vehicle’s launch campaign. The project aimed to merge the rebellious spirit of the new Capri with the iconic flair of Cantona’s storied football career.

Painted in a striking Signal Orange—a nod to classic Ford models of the 1970s—the custom Capri is packed with personalized features. A bold gloss black stripe along the sides culminates in the number seven, Cantona’s famous shirt number from his Premier League days. Twin racing stripes and a gloss black spoiler further enhance its sporty appeal, while a discreet crown emblem on the rear pillar pays tribute to Cantona’s royal nickname.

Every detail of the vehicle has been carefully crafted, from the hand-applied paintwork to the black-finished 21-inch alloy wheels with dark silver accents. Inside, the design celebrates Cantona’s unique character. The cabin includes custom stitching, twin orange racing stripes on the seats, and a tongue-in-cheek silhouette of his infamous “kung fu kick” embroidered onto the front headrests.

Perhaps most striking is a polished Plexiglas insert located above the cupholders in the central console. Illuminated from within, it displays one of Cantona’s quirky promotional quotes: “When a goat follows his hero in his car, it’s because the ruler on the racetrack returns. The Legend is back.

Presented to Cantona at Ford France headquarters by senior Ford executives, the car serves as a tribute to both the footballer’s legacy and the Capri’s return. According to Ford Europe’s design director Amko Leenarts, the electric Capri shares the same “style and swagger” that made Cantona a global icon.

Cantona, never one to shy away from the spotlight, embraced the project. “True joy comes from expression,” he said. “This Capri reflects many sides of who I am—it’s earned its title as a Legend.”

The collaboration has already generated buzz online, with Cantona appearing in a series of viral videos and promotional events. As Ford reimagines one of its most beloved nameplates, the pairing with one of football’s most enigmatic figures seems like a perfect match.
