Hamilton Is Waiting for the Jackpot Ferrari Car in 2026

Lewis Hamilton seems “desperate”, while Marko claims Ferrari’s “jackpot”

Red Bull’s sports advisor, Helmut Marko, believes that Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari seems “desperate” after recent poor performances and negative statements.

However, despite early rumors about what this means for Hamilton’s future at Ferrari, Marko believes that Hamilton is pinning his hopes on the new era of Formula 1 from 2026, hoping that Ferrari will then have the “jackpot” car in his quest for a record eighth world title. Stating that “there is no solution” and that they have a “tough” season ahead, and joking that he needs a “brain transplant” to adapt to Ferrari’s car, and even hinting that the bosses’ patience is slowly running out, the partnership between Hamilton and Ferrari has entered an awkward phase.

However, the Italian team boss, Fred Vasseur, assures that he remains fully committed to Hamilton.

“I will be 2,000 percent behind him,” Vasseur told reporters after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

“We will provide him with support and start looking for solutions and reasons tomorrow morning and work on it from the early hours of the morning.”

“But honestly, I’m not too worried. If you look at what he did in China, or last week in Bahrain, or even in the first part of the session this weekend, the potential is certainly there.”

“We just have to adjust the balance because we, collectively, Lewis and we as a team, are struggling with the balance of his car and the way he uses the tyres.”

“We are currently in a negative phase, but I think the potential of the car is there and we will try to solve it.”

The seven-time champion will definitely need that support, as Marko believes Hamilton is leaning towards 2026.

The current season is the last year of this rulebook, because from 2026 new rules on chassis and engines come into force, which brings the possibility of a big change in the standings.

Red Bull’s sports advisor has touched on the Ferrari driver, and believes that nothing will come of the Briton this season.

“He really seems desperate,” Marko said of Hamilton to Germany’s F1-Insider.

“But I believe he is waiting for the car for 2026 and hopes that Ferrari will not only hit the jackpot with that car, but also that the Scuderia will make a car that he can handle better.”
