Lexus Blends Automotive Art and Innovation at NYCxDESIGN 2025

The luxury automaker turns heads with an immersive installation at Hudson Yards, highlighting bold design, technology, and emotional connection.

In a bold fusion of automotive elegance and artistic vision, Lexus has launched its striking “Lexus Ambiance” installation as part of the 2025 NYCxDESIGN Festival. Nestled in the heart of Hudson Yards from May 10 to 19, the exhibit serves as both a sensory playground and a statement of intent from the Japanese luxury brand, emphasizing its new ethos: The Standard of Amazing.

Presented in collaboration with NYCxDESIGN and housed within the annual Design Pavilion, the installation invites visitors to step into Lexus’ design future. At the entrance, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible makes an immediate impression, wrapped in the signature vibrant aesthetic of Australian artist Nick Thomm. Its open-top form and bold visuals evoke a sense of freedom and creativity, setting the tone for what lies inside.

The centerpiece within the Pavilion is the muscular Lexus GX 550, showcased amid interactive lighting elements and dynamic technology that responds to guest movements in real time. These kinetic installations transform simple motion into captivating light-based visuals, merging vehicle design with human energy in an unforgettable display.

“Through this installation, Lexus redefines what a luxury car brand can represent,” says Gabrielle Diaz, Lexus Events Manager. “It’s about emotion, innovation, and connecting with people beyond the traditional showroom.”

Lexus’ presence at NYCxDESIGN aligns perfectly with the festival’s celebration of multidisciplinary design. Ilene Shaw, Executive Director of NYCxDESIGN, describes the Lexus Ambiance exhibit as “a seamless blend of industrial design, immersive art, and cultural storytelling,” praising the brand’s collaboration with Nick Thomm for pushing the boundaries of what automotive experiences can look and feel like.

Hudson Yards, known for its forward-thinking architecture and artistic programming, provides a fitting stage. “Hosting the Design Pavilion reaffirms our commitment to culture and creativity,” adds Stephanie Fink, SVP of Marketing at Hudson Yards.

The Lexus Design Pavilion is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays) through May 19, offering New Yorkers and visitors a rare opportunity to see design, technology, and emotion intersect on four wheels.
