As Formula 1 heads across the Atlantic for the Canadian Grand Prix, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff is setting his sights on building momentum after a promising performance in Barcelona.
Following a demanding European triple-header that included challenging races in Imola and Monaco, the team found a more encouraging rhythm at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Wolff now hopes that form continues this weekend at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
“The triple-header was a tough run for us, but Spain offered some positives,” said Wolff. “Montreal presents an opportunity to build on that progress, and we’re ready for the challenge.”
The Fight for the Constructors’ Championship Heats Up
With the battle for second place in the Constructors’ Championship intensifying, consistency will be key. Wolff believes improvements to the W16 chassis are starting to pay off—but stresses there’s more work ahead.
“We’ve made steps in the right direction with the W16,” he noted. “But if we want to return to the performance levels we saw earlier in the season, we must keep that development path going and eliminate inconsistencies.”
Mercedes enjoyed a strong race in Canada last year, and Wolff is hoping for a repeat.
“Last year’s result here was one of our best of the season. We know what this team is capable of, and we’ll be pushing hard to unlock that performance again this weekend.”

Montreal: A Classic F1 Challenge
The Canadian Grand Prix is one of the sport’s most beloved events, marking its 44th appearance on the Formula 1 calendar in 2025. The semi-street circuit on Montreal’s Île Notre-Dame features a thrilling combination of long straights and technical corners, making it a favorite among drivers and fans alike.
“It’s a circuit that rewards precision and bravery,” Wolff explained. “The layout creates plenty of opportunities for overtaking and drama.”
Beyond the racing, Wolff praised the vibrant energy the host city brings to the event.
“Montreal is an exceptional city for Formula 1. The fans are passionate, the atmosphere is electric, and the entire weekend always feels special.”
